Zaraz po powrocie z podróży i przeprowadzce do Warszawy okazało się, że wyruszam dalej i na następne 3 miesiące zmieniam kod na 4002 - także jestem tu, w Bazylei, żeby odkrywać Szwajcarię. To nie do końca wakacje, ale i tak mam nadzieję, znakomita okazja, żeby poznać miasto i ludzi.

It happened so fast, just moved to Warsaw and already changing the post code again...So here I am in Basel for the next 3 months - more less 3 months as noone knows exactly when we are coming back yet. The work assignment is not a holidays but still a great opportunity to get know the place, people and be on the move again.

Sprawdzony sposób na poznawanie miasta to wędrówka uliczkami i odkrywanie tego, co kryje się za następnym zakrętem, za rogiem. W informacji turystycznej można dostać mapki i przewodniki z gotowymi trasami, jednak to nie to samo. Klein i Gross Basel najlepiej odkrywać na własną rękę, zaglądać tu i ówdzie i samemu przekonać się gdzie nas nogi poniosły. 

Wandering around the city is the best way to explore it. The information in the travel guides or at the Tourist Information desk does not unveil the city in full. I recommend the walks around Klein Basel and Gross Basel without specific route – just along the narrow streets to see what you can discover there J

Wiosna to cudowny czas, żeby po pracy zatrzymać się na chwilę w kafejce, czy nawet przysiąść na schodach nad Renem wystawić buzię do słońca i posłuchać szumu wody.

Sitting in the cafés or simply on the stairs along Rhine is the perfect way to spent sunny day. The warm of early, spring sun, sound of splashing water and morning coffee or afternoon glass of wine is a pleasure that can last and last.

Jednym z najciekawszych wydarzeń w Bazylei jest Fasnacht - festiwal tuż przed wielkanocą, zaczynający się przejściem parady przebierańców, grup muzykujących przez miasto. Festiwal trwa kilka dni, złożone z kilkunastu ludzi grupki grające na harmonikach lub flecikach przemieszczają się po całym mieście, także po kilku godzinach, melodia wpada w ucho i masz wrażenie, że znasz ja od zawsze. Każda grupa ma również swoją platformę z instalacją świetlną, takie lampiony można wieczorem obejrzeć zgromadzone na placu przed katedrą.

One of the unique events around Easter time is the festival called Fasnacht. It starts on Monday after Ash Wednesday with the great parade on the streets. The groups of people wandering on the streets in masks and costumes, playing tunes on the flutes and throwing everywhere confetti are the common picture for the next couple of days. Every group has its own platform with the lantern – which during the evening can be seen on the square in front of the Cathedral.
