Spacer po Berlinie

Nasz dzień w Berlinie zakończyliśmy spacerem z Wyspy Muzeów do Bramy Brandenburskiej. Słynna  ulica Unter den Linden oblana słońcem, dookoła nas mieszało się wiele języków, wokół morze głów.

We finished our short visit in Berlin with a stroll from the Museum Island to the Brandenburg Gate. The famous street Unter den Linden was covered with sun. Around us amazing colourfull crowd of people from all over the world.

Pergamon Museum, Berlin

Muzeum Pergamońskie w Berlinie to miejsce niezwykle interesujące nie tylko dla miłośników starożytności. Pod jednym dachem zgromadzono skarby starożytnej Mezopotamii, Asyrii, Grecji. Największe wrażenie robi oczywiście niebieskie cudo - Brama Isztar z Babilonu. Oprócz tego oczywiście brama na targ w Milecie, Wielki Ołtarz Zeusa (obecnie niestety niedostępny) czy wielkie asyryjskie płaskorzeźby i posągi. Warto także wspomnieć o Muzeum Sztuki Islamskiej gdzie największe wrażenie robią wyroby z kości słoniowej, mihraby i pokój z Aleppo.

Visit in the Pergamon Museum should be a must for every tourist, not only the lovers of ancient history. Under one roof you will see treasures of ancient Mesopotamia, Assyria, Grece. The most famous is the blue Istahr Gate from Babylon. There is also the Market Gate of Miletus and of course the Pergamon Alter. The top floor is dedicated to the Islamic Art. You could see here beautiful ivory made pieces, divans, vases and Aleppo room.

Weihnachtsmarkt in Berlin

Odkąd zakumplowałyśmy się z Anką, każdego roku -z wyjątkiem ostatniego- wyjeżdżamy na jarmarki świąteczne - Weihnachtsmarkt) do Niemiec. Ta sama niezawodna atmosfera świątecznych jarmarków, gorące grzane wino - gluhwein, smażone kiełbaski przyciągają nas każdego roku. To tak, jakby ktoś rzucił na nas urok. I nie ma znaczenia, że co roku jest tak samo. Jak tylko spadnie pierwszy śnieg, zapala się trzecia świeca na adwentowym wieńcu my wyruszamy na jarmarki. W tym roku będziemy odkrywać smak świąt w Berlinie.

Since we have met Anka, every year – expect the last one – we have been going to the Christmas Markets in Germany – Weihnachtsmarkt. The simple pleasure of good food, warm wine, Christmas atmosphere brings us there every year. It is like someone has put a spell on us. It is widely know that with the first snow and with third candle lighted in the Christmas ring we will be going to Germany. So, here we are again, exploring Berlin more J

Berlin jest interesującym miastem, odbudowanym i przebudowanym po historycznych zawieruchach. Zaskakuje na każdym kroku. Najlepszym sposobem aby poznać miasto jest włóczenie się po ulicach, obserwowanie ludzi, oglądanie budynków, próbowanie zrozumieć jak to jest żyć w Berlinie. Jednym z głównych miejsc, które chciałyśmy zobaczyć było muzeum Pergamon - muzeum historyczne z przepiękną niebieska bramą Isztar oraz niesamowitym ołtarzem pergamońskim.

Berlin is a fantastic city, rebuild and recovered after the history’s wind. It surprises us with each step. The best way to explore the city is just wander around. We walked and walked around observing people, buildings, places and trying to understand the city. One of the highlight was a visit in the Pergamon Musemu – history museum with the beautiful Ishtar Gate and the amazing Pergamon Altar.

Wieczory spędzałyśmy na jarmarkach. Niektórym może wydawać się, że te wszystkie jarmarki są i tak takie same. Nic bardziej mylnego. Każde miasto jest inne, każde stara się nadać inny charakter swojemu jarmarkowi. W samym Berlinie jest 60 jarmarków, od lokalnych małych jarmarków z kilkoma stoiskami po ogromne jarmarki na głównych placach gdzie wieczór spędza rzesza Berlinczyków i turystów jak np. ten na Friedrichstraße. Na jarmarku berlińskim obok tradycyjnych kiełbasek w bułce - bratwurst, gorącego grzańca - gluhwein spróbowałysmy białego grzanego wina robionego z jabłek, kupiłyśmy sobie orzechowego dziadka - Nussknackr i spróbowałyśmy Christstollen - ciasta przypominającego nasz keks. 

The evenings belonged to the Weihnachtsmarkts. Some may say that the Weihnachtsmarkt are everywhere the same, but it is not true. Each city is unique and therefore its Christmas Market is unique. There are like 60 markets in Berlin alone, so there are many places to choose from, the small local markets with just a few stalls to the huge ones like those near the Friedrichstraße. Here in Berlin, next to the obvious rolls with sausages  (bratwurst), warm mulled wine with the spices (gluhwein) we have tried the white wine made from apples, bought the Nussknacker (carved Nutcrackers) and tried the Christstollen which is similar to bread with candied fruits.

No i oczywiście, jak każdego roku przywiozłyśmy sobie jedyny w swoim rodzaju jarmarkowy kubek :)
And of course, like every year, we came back with the unique mug J
