Bieszczady

This summer we went south, deep south to be honest. We decided to explore Bieszczady more. J
W tym roku spędzamy wakacje na południu. A konkretnie odkrywamy Bieszczady, po raz pierwszy w życiu :)

Bieszczady is a mountain range in South-East Poland where you can still meet wolfs, where the night is so dark that you don’t see your hand, where the silent is so quiet that it clings in your ears. It is a great place to rest, to forget about the world and to spend quality time surrounded by nature.

Bieszczady to jedno z najdzikszych miejsc w Polsce, ciągle można tu spotkać niedźwiedzie i wilki, noce są tak ciemne, że nie widać własnej dłoni a cisza aż dzwoni  w uszach. Można tu naprawdę odpocząć, zapomnieć o świecie i spędzić fantastyczny czas na łonie natury.

W Bieszczadach warto zatrzymać się w kilku miejscowościach i z każdej odkrywać inne partie gór. My zdecydowałyśmy się wynająć pokój w Cisnej. Cisna to bardzo stara wieś założona w 1552 roku przez rodzinę Balów. Wieś jest bardzo dobrze położona, zaledwie kilka kilometów od najwyższego szczytu Bieszczad - Tarnicy.

In the region there are few villages where you can stay and explore the mountains. We decided to book a room in Cisna. It is little old village, set in 1552 (!) by Bal family. It is nice starting spot. From here there is only few kilometers to Tarnica – the highest summit in Bieszczady.

Nasza pierwsza wycieczka to spacer do Sinych Wirów, rezwrwatu gdzie Wetlina tworzy niesamowite przełomy i spływa jak rwąca rzeka.
Our first trip was to Sine Wiry, the nature reserve where Wetlina river creates picturesque gorges.

Połonina Wetlińska jest jednym z najpopularniejszych szlaków, na końcu którego znajduje się słynne schronisko "Chatka Puchatka" (1228 mnpm). Na połoninę wiedzie całkiem przyjemny szlak. Początkowo podchodzi się lasem a następnie szlak wiedzie w poprzek przez zieloną połoninę. 

Połonina Wetlińska is one of the most popular track ended with really cute mountain hostel “Chatka Puchatka” (1228 meters above the sea level). It is nice and easy walk. First you go in the forest then the path come up from the forest to the beautiful sort of glade or meadow and leads you up to the top.

Tarnica (1346 mnpm) jest najwyższym szcczytem w Bieszczadach. Można się tam dostać z Doliny Wołosate. Pierwsza część trasy to wędrówka w górę przez las, może nie jest bardzo stromo ale przez dłuższy czas jednostajnie w górę. Na szczęście po drodze przygotowane są miejsca gdzie można odpocząć, usiąść, złapać oddech ;) Po wyjściu z lasu już widać szczyt. Wiedzie na niego dość stroma ścieżka. Widoki są niesamowite. Trawa falująca na wietrze, błękitne niebo, słońce. Na samym szczycie od 1987 roku stoi żelazny krzyż. W drodze powrotnej proponuję znaleźć sobie słoneczne miejsce na trawie, zdjąć buty i skarpetki, położyć się na trawie, wystawić buzię do słońca i odpoczywać, odpoczywać, odpoczywać.

Tarnica (1346 meters above the sea level) is the highest summit in Bieszczady. The way there leads from the Wołosate Valley. First for few hours we walked up and up in the forest which was very pleasant on that summer day. There are nice spots on the way where you can sit, relax, have something to eat, shelter from rain. Then you walk quiet steep path to the top. There is beautiful grass around you waving with the wind. At the very top, there is a steel cross. It was put there in 1987. On the way back I strongly recommend to take off your shoes and socks, lay on the ground, put your bag under your head and relax, relax, relax.

Jeżeli po kilku dniach spędzonych na wędrówkach wasze nogi dają o sobie znać i musicie dać im odpocząć proponuję spędzić dzień na szlaku starych cerkwi. Każda z nich jest małym dziełem sztuki. Moja ulubiona to ta na zdjęciu, wygląda jak wielki trójmasztowy okręt prujący zielone fale.  Cerkiew ta znajduje się we wsi Równia i została zbudowana w XVIII w.

If your legs are not used to climbing and after few days your muscles hurt, you can visit the old wooden Orthodox Churches as there are quite a few here in Bieszczady. Each one is like a little piece of art. My favorite looks like old ship with 3 huge sails sailing through the see of grass. It is located in village called Równia and was build in 18^TH century.

Około godzinę jazdy od Cisnej zbudowana jest ogromna tama. Aby uchronić te tereny przed wylewami Sanu utworzono tu sztuczny zbiornik. Tama jest ogromna, wysoka na 81,8 metrów, długa na 664 metry. Od jakiegoś czasu stała się atrakcją turystyczną, można tu wybrać się na rejs po Solinie i podziwiać otaczające zielone wzgórza - zupełnie jak w piosence.

Approx 1 hours away is the huge dam in Solina where the artificial lake was created to protect the area from often floods caused by the San River. The dam is huge, it is 81,8 m high and 664 m long. It is a famous touristic place with lots of hotels around the lake. There are many attractions for children including the short boat cruise. Although it is always packed with tourist it is worth visiting as this is the biggest dam in Poland.

Niedaleko Cisnej są jeszcze dwa miejsca warte polecenia, które znajdują się w Wetlinie. Pierwsze to Chata Wędrowca. Jest to mała restauracja połączona z pensjonatem. Na całe Bieszczady i nie tylko, znane sa serwowane tam naleśniki z jagodami. Po zrobieniu pierwszego kęsa, już wiadomo, że są to najlepsze naleśniki na świecie :) Tuż obok jest Stare Sioło, miejsce gdzie odbywają się jazzowe koncerty. Akurat na jeden trafiliśmy i było fantastycznie. Wspaniała muzyka, góry dookoła, świecie, czerwone wino...ah lato...

Near Cisna, there are two other places worth visiting, both located in the little village of Wetlina. First is called Chata Wędrowca. It is a small restaurant and hostel simultaneously. We went there as the pancakes with blueberries are famous in the whole Bieszczady. And after first bite I completely understand why. The pancake is scrumptious. Just in the next yard we found a place called Stare Sioło where a jazz sessions are held during the summer. We had a pleasure to listen to such a concert. It was fantastic experience. Mountains around, no other sound than music, candles, red wine…ah summer days.
