As EasyJet had this amazing deal for cheap flights from Berlin to Basel we decided to give it a go and explore Switzerland more J Especially that we had another important reason to go there – to visit Magda J

Podróż zaczęłyśmy kilkugodzinną przejażdżką Polskim Busem do Berlina, potem godzinny lot do Bazyleii. Na miejsce dotarłyśmy ok 14:00, całkiem miła godzina na rozpoczęcie szwajcarskiej przygody. Ciekawostka z lotniska z Bazylei: jest stąd wyjście do Szwajcarii, Niemiec i Francji, także trzeba być uważnym J

The journey started with a few hours ride with Polski Bus to Berlin and then with 1 hour flight to Basel. We got there around 2 pm, not too bad to start exploration. At Basel’s airport we had to be very careful as you can enter three countries from there: Switzerland, Germany or France.

Bazylea – miłe, małe miasteczko z przytulnymi domkami i urokliwymi budynkami jak z bajki. Rzeka Ren dzieli Bazyleę na Gross Basel i Klein Basel. Po jednej stronie rzeki na jednym ze szczytów budynku umieszczona jest rzeźba przedstawiająca głowę króla pokazującego język drugiej stronie. Po drugiej stronie na moście znajduje się siedząca rzeźba Helwetii – symbolu Szwajcarii – z walizką, włócznią i tarczą, spoglądająca daleko w przeszłość, przyszłość, ah kto to wie ;)

First stop Basel, a nice small city with little houses and narrow streets like in fairy tell. The old town is divided into Gross Basel and Klein Basel by the Rhine. On the one side there is a sculpture of King’s head with his tongue stuck out at the Klein Basel. On the other side there is a sculpture of Helvetia – the symbol of Switzerland – sitting with her staff (suitcase, shield and spear) with faraway look in the future or maybe past, who knows ;)

Mimo, że stolicą Szwajcarii jest Berno, Zurich może być uznany za nieoficjalną stolicę Państwa. Miasto jest wspaniałe, urocze stare miasto z przepięknym jeziorem w centrum. Pogoda nam sprzyja także spędzamy 1,5 h pływając specjalnym tramwajem po jeziorze, dookoła którego wybudowano piękne domy i otworzono urocze kafejki. Później, włóczymy się po mieście, nie omijamy także głównej ulicy handlowej Bahnhofstrasse gdzie największe marki mają swoje sklepy. Trafiamy także do starego kościoła, gdzie na wieży znajduje się ogromny zegar a w środku piękny, kolorowy witraż Marka Chagalla.

Although the official capital of Switzerland is Bern, Zurich may be described as an unofficial one. It is amazing city with beautiful old town and fabulous lake just in the city centre. We were lucky with the weather therefore the journey in Lake Tram was a pure pleasure. During the 90 minutes journey we saw amazing houses, cute cafes and beautiful views around the Lake.

Later we had a stroll around the city including the walked the high end street Bahnhofstrasse where all the big brands have their shops. We have also wandered around the old town, visited the old church with the biggest clock and with the amazing colorful stained – glass window done by Marc Chagall.

Jak się dowiedziałyśmy, pomiędzy Zurichem a Lucerną – do której zmierzamy – istnieje swojego rodzaju rywalizacja o miano najfajniejszego miasta J No to sprawdźmy co oferuje Lucerna. A tak na marginesie, połączenia kolejowe w Szwajcarii są niesamowite. Wszystkie miasta sa połączone, pociągi jeżdżą często, są szybkie i czyste. W porównaniu z PKP jest to kolejowe niebo J

Apparently there is some kind of contest which city is more beautiful Zurich or Lucerne, so we got into the train and went to explore Lucerne the next day.

I need to admit that the railway in Switzerland is fantastic, all the cities are connected, the trains go very often, they are fast and clean. With compare to the Polish PKP it is like railway heaven ;)

Lucerna jest piękna. Ponownie w centrum miasta znajduje się wielkie Jezioro Czterech Kantonów z drewnianym mostem łączącym w poprzek dwa brzegi. Dookoła jeziora kafejki, stoliczki z obrusami w kratkę, ludzie piją wino, jest wakacyjne. Wąskie uliczki prowadzą w głąb miasta. Lucerna, to także dobre miejsce aby pojechać na Szczyt Pilatus. Oczywiście można też na niego wejść robiąc sobie przemiłą zapewne wycieczkę. Pilatus ma 2128 m npm. My wjeżdżamy na gore kolejką górską i gondolami. Widok ze szczytu zapiera dech w piesi. W oddali ośnieżone Alpy, w dole Jezioro Czterech Kantonów otoczone malowniczymi domkami Lucerny. Bosko.

Lucerne is beautiful with the Four Cantons Lake in the city centre, the wooden bridge across the Lake, the small cafes along the Lake’s banks and with the narrow charming streets. 

It is also good start point to go to the Pilatus Summit. It is 2128 meters above the sea level. You can climb there or you can take a pleasant ride with the aerial cableway and aerial gondolas. The views from the summit are spectacular, the view of the huge Four Cantons Lake surrounded by mountains is breathtaking. A highlight during the nice weather would be the view of snowed Alps summits.
